Show up
You are always gathering new data from your own sales experience & what your manager is teaching you. Sometimes this is welcomed, but sometimes there is a feeling of needing to make constant adjustments. Add the emotional burden of a lost deal or rough day on the phones, and the job can feel like a constant churn.
While most days we follow the “feel like it” mantra, some days we internalize what we learn and try something new. Significantly, those tend to be the most important ones, with breakthroughs & insights we wouldn’t otherwise find.
This is why it’s important to develop consistency - specifically the habit of showing up to learn, early & often. Deliberate rules set for ourselves by the knowledge we acquire and the discipline to follow them provide a counter to the mental ups & downs. They let us accept variations more easily. We can never predict when something will finally click, but we can hedge our bets with robust practice & stop worrying.
